Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are chemicals that contain carbon. They are volatile substances that are commonly used in solvents. Often, these materials cause concern due to their low boiling points, extensive use, relatively high toxicity, and a high degree of halogenation.

VOCs are found in numerous commercial, industrial, and residential products, including gasoline, solvents, cleaners, paints, inks and dyes, and pesticides. They are typically found in the environment as a result of human activity and may end up in drinking water and soil.

Testing for VOC’s in water and soil

Element provides testing for a wide range of VOC’s in drinking water, ground water, surface water, soil and waste. Element can also check for other VOC contaminants such as Bromodichloromethane, Bromoform, Chloroform, Dibromochloromethane, and total Trihalomethanes. We ensure tests are right first time, and carried out as quickly as possible.

Performing VOC testing

Element use state-of-the-art equipment to ensure that results are reported accurately, even at low detection levels. We use Thermal Desorption Gas chromatography / Mass spectroscopy (TD-GC/MS), Headspace GC/MS, and High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) testing methods in our large environmental and micro-chambers.
